"In Pakistan 93% women experience some form of sexual violence in their lifetime."
A vast majority of Sexual harassment victims in Pakistan are forced to be silent so as to protect their family’s honor and their own social lives. Thus, they do not report the crime committed against them. But when a woman, despite enormous social pressures and stigmas, has the courage to report such crimes, she still cannot seek justice due to lack of proper implementation of the law and apposite deterrence for culprits. The inability and inefficiency of the state to provide justice to the victims, restrain the majority of victims from reporting their tragedies. In this situation, they prefer to remain silent. In this way, a culture of rape remains unleashed in the society.

The focus of this artwork is to highlight the magnanimity of the issue by stitching together this 16ft x 20ft piece of cloth with the responses and research I’ve gathered at BNU. I chose to hang it on the university building in front of the open ground so it can be seen by everyone passing by.

Each box is hand painted with a respondent's answers and is color coded according to the age they first experienced sexual violence. The darker the color of the cloth, the younger the age of the survivor.
